With confusion around the death reported for a COVID-19 case last Saturday, we want to clarify the reporting rules. Please understand that all COVID-19 cases must be reported with follow up regarding if the person recovered, is still ill, hospitalized, or died. We do not determine cause of death, but must report on the outcome of each case.
To date in Malheur County, we have 33 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. We must report on the outcomes on each, which you can find on our COVID-19 Cases page. Of the 33 cases, 28 have recovered and one has died. That means that four people still have active infections.
If you have questions about the required communicable disease procedure health departments must follow, please call 541-889-7279. Thank you.
