Tools to use in case of poison

On Day 5 of National Poison Prevention Week, we’re going to have a little fun with word puzzles!

Here is a word search puzzle about poison, and this crossword puzzle is a little more difficult.

If you get stuck, go to our Facebook page and write your question in the comments. Maybe another reader of our blog will be able to help.

In all seriousness, people of all ages might come into contact with poisons, and need to call the Poison Control Hotline at 1-800-222-1222. If you’re not comfortable speaking on the phone, go to the online poison help tool. Current trending topics are opioid (narcotic) pain medications, E-cigarettes and liquid nicotine, and cannabidoil, but the website does give users the opportunity to type in the type of poison that is in use and receive immediate help.

If an individual has collapsed, had a seizure, has trouble breathing, or can’t be awakened, call 911 immediately.

Here for the ages: National Poison Control Week

When life happens, poison centers are ready 24/7/365 with fast, free treatment advice by calling Poison Help (1-800-222-1222) or visiting poisonhelp.org. Whether it’s a question or an emergency, Poison Help can provide life-saving information when people need it most, and calling a poison center is faster and more accurate than an internet search. On average, 90% of poisonings happen in American homes each year, and more than 70% of people who call Poison Help get the help they need right where they are -saving the cost of a trip to a doctor or hospital.

This year National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW) is March 20-26, 2022. NPPW is a week dedicated to raising awareness about poison control centers and the Poison Help Hotline (1-800-222-1222).

Half of calls to poison centers are about kids, but calls about poisonings in teens and adults tend to be more serious. That’s why we’re here for people of ALL ages. #NPPW22

La mitad de las llamadas a los centros de envenenamiento son sobre niños, pero las llamadas sobre intoxicaciones en adolescentes y adultos tienden a ser más graves. Por eso estamos aquí para personas de TODAS las edades. # NPPW22
