New benefits for some OHP members

Starting March 1, 2024, Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members will have a new way to apply for climate related resources, through a climate benefit called health-related social needs (HRSN) services.

Eligible OHP members can get devices that help keep healthy temperatures and clean air, including air conditioners, heaters, air filtration devices and mini refrigeration units for medications. Devices like portable power supplies to operate medical equipment like ventilators for power outages caused by
climate events are also available.

Eligible OHP members may qualify for a new benefit to receive devices. The devices help keep people safe during climate events. These include:

  • Air conditioners, heaters, and air filters to provide clean air and healthy temperatures
  • Mini fridges to keep medication cold during a power outage
  • Portable power supplies to operate medical devices like ventilators during a power outage

Learn more about the HRSN climate resources from the Oregon Health Authority here.

OHP members interested in receiving climate devices should contact their coordinated care organization (CCO) to learn more. If an OHP member is not sure which CCO they are in, they can call the OHA Client Services Unit at 1-800-273-0557. For Eastern Oregon CCO (EOCCO), call 888-788-9821.

If you do not have health insurance and live in Malheur County, you may qualify for the Oregon Health Plan and the benefits detailed above. Call us at 541-889-7279 and see this post to learn more about our OHP Application Assistance program.
